Anticipated releases – October

I am always looking forward to check out what books will be released in the near future, so with this post I would like to let you share in my excitement and maybe inform you on what will be coming out. This will be a monthly thing, which I’ll always try to post on the last Friday of the month.

October seems to be a bit quieter in terms of releases that really peaked my interest. So now I only have half of the amount than what I had in September. Should be good for the TBR pile right? Let’s get into them!

Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson – October 5th

I absolutely adored A Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson (my first ever book review on this blog that can be read here), so even though I have not yet read her previous work, An Enchantment of Ravens, I am definitely going to keep this on my radar. I might even have ordered a pretty special edition of it already. Vespertine is not going to be a standalone, so we can look forward to even more books. The story is about Artemisia, who is training to be a nun who helps the souls of the deceased pass on so they don’t become malevolent spirits that can possess people. Things go down when there is an attack on her convent and a revenant is awoken. Intriguing right? I’m sure this will also be a perfect read for spooky season.

Jade Fire Gold by June C.L. Tan – October 12th

Another book that I already have on pre-order and that also appears to be coming in one of my subscription boxes. Jade Fire Gold is pitched as “An empire on the brink of war, inspired by Chinese mythology, with rich magic and an epic slow-burn romance”.

The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni – October 12th

Another book I have on pre-order. I hope it gets here fast after its release because I NEED TO KNOW HOW THIS CONTINUES!!! One of my September pre-orders is going to take 1 to 2 months to be delivered, so I hope things go smoother with this one. I don’t want to say too much about The Gilded Cage as it is a sequel, but book 1, The Prison Healer, is About Kiva who has liver her life in prison from a young age. Suddenly the traitor queen gets captures and is brought in sick. Kiva is the one to take care of her and to compete in the trials in the traitor queen’s place. It was a book that took its time and made an incredible impact on me with its surprising reveals. I definitely would recommend it, but keep in mind that it moves slow at first.

Little Thieves by Margaret Owen – October 19th

Another book that will possibly be included in one of my subscription boxes. Little Thieves is a “retelling of The Goose Girl about stolen lives, thorny truths, and the wicked girls at the heart of both”. It is a queernorm world word where the main character Vanja leads a double life as princess and jewel thief to fund her escape to freedom. Early review have been raving about it, so I’m looking forward to see what I think of it.

Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood – October 19th

I added this book to my TBR quite a while ago when I was looking through releases for the last half of the year. So I’ll have to look up what Within These Wicked Walls is about. Apparently it’s an Ethiopian-inspired fantasy retelling of Jane Eyre about an exorcist who is working on an unusual job with bad manifestations and hidden secrets. nothing could go wrong there, right? It sound intriguing and I’m looking forward to get a glimpse of the Ethiopian culture.

Please do let me know what books you are excited to see released this month, and if you have any more adult fantasy recommendations, leave them down here!

Cheers!

Charlotte
