What have I been reading the last 3 months? What dit I buy? How am I doing with my reading goals? What are my favorites so far? Find out all these things and more in this quarterly wrap up!
The numbers
During the first three months of this year, I have read 27 books which include a total of 14,327 pages. I’ve also been very consistant in the amount of books i’ve read per month. It has always been 9 books and around 4,770 pages. It would be great if I could keep that up for the rest of the year. I reread seven books this year (the early Shadowhunter ones and Into the Crooked Place) and the other 20 were all new to me.
As for the quality of books, my ratings have been between 2 and 5 stars, with a current average of 3.69 stars. It is funny that the 5 star books are all nicely devided over the three monts, so one 5 star book each month.

I’ll insert a slideshow with some pages from my reading journal that are nicely getting filled it. I also keep track of my reading goals in there, and I must say that I am doing pretty wel on those. So far I read 2 of the 10 books that are on my ‘need to read in 2021’ list, I’ve read 6 new releases of my goal of 25. For the alphabet challenge I am already at 12/26 for the titles and for the authors I am at 8/26. That’s what you get when you’re a series bingereader I guess.
I love how I’ve been able to mostly stick to my TBR’s. I completed the one for January and March, and April only had 2 books I didn’t manage to get to. I’ve been loving how the review style pages look that I do each month. I’m really behind right now though and still need to write in 8 more reviews for March before I can set up my TBR for April. I’m sure I’ll get there someday ๐
Book Haul
I just checked, and so far I have added 12 physical books to my shelves this year.
Exactly half of these books are still unread (though 3 of them are on the planning for Aril, so I think I’m doing well):
- Shorefall by Robert Jackon Bennett
- Jade City by Fonda Lee
- Jade War by Fonda Lee
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, the collector’s edition (I did already read this story in the past, but am wanting to reread it in April)
- King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
- Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare
The books I did already manage to read are:
- Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
- The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick
- Lore by Alexandra Bracken
- A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
- Of Silver and Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke
- City of Spells by Alexandra Christo

The books

Here is a list of the books that I’ve read. If I have done a review on them, I will put in the link for it. As you can see, these are a ton of shadowhunter books. It was one of my goals for this year to read all shadowhunter books and currently I only have The Last Hours to read, so I’m doing pretty well on that.
- All Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare, except for Clockwork Angel (read at the end of 2020), Chain of Gold and Chain of Iron. I will be doing a review/reading experience for all of these together once I’ve read the last two books.
- Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: might still do a review somewhere in the future
- House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess: review
- Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire
- The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick: review: review
- The Inheritance games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: review
- A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas: review
- The Stone Eater by Carol Beth Anderson: review
- Of Silver and Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke: review
- Lore By Alexandra Bracken: review
- Into The Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo: review to come in April
- City of Spells by Alexandra Christo: review to come in April
My favorites
Of course, I have to put my three 5 star reads here: Ninth House, A Court of Silver Flames and Of Silver and Shadow. But I also want to mention some other books that I won’t soon forget but that have just a little aspect that I enjoyed less: The Mask of Mirrors and The Inheritance Games.

The future
After getting through the Shadowhunter realm, I would love to (re)read all the grisha verse books by Leigh Bardugo in anticipation of the TV show. There are also a couple of other series on my shelves which I would love to start or continue on with:
- The Nevernight trilogy by Jay Kristoff
- The Cursebreakers trilogy by Brigid Kemmerer
- The Crown of Feathers trilogy by Nicky Pau Preto
- The Gilded Wolves trilogy by Roshani Chokshi
Let me know what you have been reading and loving the last few months and tell me what you are excited for to read soon!
Cheers!
Charlotte

I love how well you’ve balanced rereads with new reads. I’m always trying to reread more but it can sometimes be hard to find the time. I loved Jade City, so I hope you do as well. Happy reading!

Looks like a fantastic first quarter. You are bit ahead of me, I think I’ve read 25 books so far this year. I’m also planning on reading Jade City and Jade War in the next few months:-)

25 is great. I’m really surprised by how much I’m reading at the moment, I’ve never read this much before. It would be great if I were able to read Jade City and Jade War right before the third book comes out, but we’ll see how it goes.
