A story that is full of representation and explores the lengths we go to for love. I expected there to be more fantastical elements, but it turned out to be mainly a coming-of-age love story. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t feel like anything special to me, so I gave it 3 stars.
As you might already know, I am an avid fantasy reader and don’t often find myself really loving a contemporary or thriller. As I do love the vibes of spooky season, I wanted to recommend some books that bring the spooky or grim atmosphere, but also have at least some fantasy elements to them.
My journey of exploring more science-fiction continues with Skyward. It didn’t give me quite the punch that I was expecting from a Sanderson novel, but the character development and dynamics made up for that. I had a blast reading it and flew through these pages. I gave it a rating of 4.5 stars.
I am always looking forward to check out what books will be released in the near future, so with this post I would like to let you share in my excitement and maybe inform you on what will be coming out. This will be a monthly thing, which I'll always try to post on the last Friday of the month.
Who else got moved into action to finally read this tome by the upcoming Amazon release of the Wheel of Time TV show? I definitely did, and I’m not sure what to think of it afterwards. It was a slow journey with a rushed ending and an abundance of unnecessary information and descriptions. Though I certainly enjoyed certain parts of it, I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars.
When I found out that The Devil Makes Three was going to be in an Illumicrate box, I honestly debated skipping the box because I didn’t think it would be up my alley. But oh, am I glad that I didn’t because this turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. I fell in love with the characters, I laughed, I cried, and I gave it 5 stars.
A grim and atmospheric story with a spectacular magic system that could have been darker to make more of an emotional impact. The writing choices pulled me out of it from time to time, but I overall had a fun time with this book. 3 stars from me.
The Once and Future Witches is a heavily character based story that was hard for me to read because of the flowery, but also 'overdone' writing with too many hyphens, through which the actual story got a bit lost. Only 2 stars from me.
This book made me feel. It made me feel angry, annoyed, happy, warm, sad,… All in a good way. I was either smiling or frowning whenever I was reading it and I love it when books do that to me. Isn’t that why we all read? It deserves 5 stars from me.
I usually don’t post my TBR here as I tend to stray from it quite often and it wouldn’t really have any meaning that way. This month however, I am participating in 2 readathons and I’m determined to complete both and thereby also finish this TBR for once.
